68 was the door number of my childhood home and I have so many great memories from that house, that I thought it would be perfect to incorporate it into my business name, especially as StudioSixty8 is all about capturing moments that will go onto become treasured memories for others.
I studied Art & Design at College and was a Window Dresser for a while (I think they call it Visual Merchandising now). I went on to study graphic design and multimedia and eventually became a College lecturer. I have taught graphic design, animation, art, photography, motion graphics, web design and art. I love teaching, but I am also an eternal student.... I am currently hooked on doing creative online courses!
Being creative is a passion of mine, I love creating things out of objects that other people throw out. My favourite piece of furniture is a wardrobe I purchased from EBay. It is Art Deco from the 1930's but when my husband and I went to pick it up, it was dumped in a garage looking very uncared for. Now it looks great and brings a smile to my face every time I look at it! A big bonus is that it has a huge drawer in it that I can fill up with lots of things and it doesn't fall apart when you open it like some of the newer furniture that we have! (Its all about the little things in life!).
My name is Katie by the way and my husband is the gorgeous Ken who is the second shooter at weddings and events. I have a son who is permanently attached to his iPhone and loves travelling, mobile photography and Instagram.
I am what you call a people person and I love photography, so wedding and event photography is the perfect mix! I love digital photography but I also love polaroids - I love seeing the picture develop before your eyes, its so old school!
Some of the things I love:
